What exactly is the difference between breath therapy and Breath Coaching?

Optimizing breathing contributes immensely to holistic health and general well-being. To this end, breathing therapy and Breath Coaching have developed into two different but complementary approaches.

The core focus of breathwork therapies is on restoring or strengthening damaged or weakened lung layers through targeted breathing exercises. These exercises help to strengthen the respiratory center and improve overall breathing performance, which can positively affect physical performance, energy consumption, sleep quality, and even mental clarity.

On the other hand, Breath Coaching takes a holistic approach that goes far beyond purely physical rehabilitation. It is about adapting breathing patterns, stress management strategies and life changes that have a health-promoting effect on various areas of life. The aim here is not just to remedy an immediate disorder, but to adapt to sustainable behaviors.

Both approaches emphasize the importance of correct breathing technique, whether during everyday activities such as walking or sitting, during sports, or while practicing hobbies such as singing or playing musical instruments. Correct breathing techniques not only support these experiences but also the entirety of functions in the body such as regulation of heart rate, blood pressure, digestion and the nervous system.

However, it must be emphasized that both approaches differ in essence. While Breath Therapy focuses primarily on physical rehabilitation, Breath Coaching focuses equally on psychological and behavioral aspects to create a complete approach to better breathing habits and health.

Overall, the choice between Breath Therapy and Breath Coaching will ultimately come down to individual goals and needs. It is important to me that you take personal responsibility (also with regard to breathing), feel your limits and communicate them. As almost everyone has experienced trauma in some form, I offer a trauma-sensitive approach to both Breath Coaching and Breathwork , creating a safe and supportive environment for subconscious exploration and holistic healing. I work with you in a gentle and compassionate way to help you connect with your breath and body in a way that feels natural and empowering.
